Questions?

Folks have questions. We have answers!

Frequently asked questions

What is the free trial lesson?

We ask that EVERY student begin with a free trial piano lesson. Held in group format every week, parents register for one lesson online with this link. The trial gives you a chance to see how we work, and gives us a chance to see how your child learns. It's a fun opportunity to explore the piano and our learning format while parents watch. Ask your questions as the 30-minute lesson unfolds, or ask later on via email. It's your choice! There is no obligation to enroll in lessons after the trial, but we think you will!

What happens after the trial?

Once you've had your trial lesson, you can choose to continue lessons or not. If you'd like to continue with lessons, the Director will send you the registration link to enroll your child(ren). No money is due at registration. Yes, it really is that easy!

So what about payments?

The Meraki Center has very reasonable tuition fees. Every family pays ahead at the first of each month for that month (March 1st for the month of March). We offer a multi-student discount for families who enroll more than 1 child. Our families are billed online and enjoy a very easy payment process online as well.  All book materials and supplies are added to the next invoice as needed.

Tell me about missed lessons...

Here's the scoop - Our teachers prepare for each and every lesson. So we ask students to commit to attending their lessons regularly. But we know life has a way of getting in the way, so this is our policy:

  • Lessons canceled/missed for emergencies/illness are made up the following week
  • Lessons canceled/missed for any reason, and given at least 24 hours' notice are made up the following week
  • Lessons missed for reasons other than emergency/illness and not given 24 hours' notice are not made up nor refunded
  • If lessons cannot be made up the following week, parents are encouraged to find a make up within the current month
  • Keeping up with missed lessons is the responsibility of each parent

How do we reschedule lessons?

Each week, parents receive a confirmation email. Within that email is a link that will help them reschedule that week's lesson. If you know ahead of time that a future lesson needs to be moved, request assistance from the Director. Past lessons are not able to be rescheduled this way and will need assistance from the Director as well.

What about bad weather closures??

Currently, The Meraki Center decides to stay open or closed due to bad weather independent of any school district. Please watch your email/text for information regarding closures for inclement weather. Lessons missed for weather closures will be made up according to the teacher's availability, including the potential for occasional Saturday lessons. The Meraki Center will provide opportunities for make ups for each missed lesson due to weather problems. If sufficient effort has been made to make up the lesson, yet students do not attend the make up, the parent agrees to forfeit the tuition.
